Job Description
You will be responsible for designing efficient, cost effective, reliable OSP and ISP fiber optic network infrastructure in low-rise, mid-rise and high rise environments. The work environment will also include historic structures, Greenfield projects, commercial strip locations and multi-structure complexes. A demonstrated knowledge of micro-duct, PVC conduit, EMT, mouldings and Invisi-light fiber installation is required. A field survey assessment and consultation with others in identifying best locations and options for equipment placement in utility and communications closets should be considered routine. The engineer will support the design from preliminary design through the completed construction job package phase.
He/She will engage with various project team members in the collection, coordination and entry of project as-builts into customer data systems. Additional site visits with vendors for QA inspections of installed OSP/ISP infrastructures may be required.
OSP requirements will include pole data collection and make ready engineering suitable for handoff to a drafting and permitting department. The field engineer will provide the team alternatives when aerial MRE/MRC concerns prevent standard installation and attachment.
Other OSP tasks include determining type, size, usage and placement of concrete pads, vaults, and hand holes upon ROW’s, Easements, Right of Entries and shared spaces. This task will include providing assistance to the team with permitting issues when they arise with various municipalities, departments and authorities. On site walk outs with various contractors for best possible construction methods and problem solutions should be anticipated. The engineer candidate will be knowledgeable of directional boring, trenching, direct bury and associated best methods, applications and procedures.
Valid driver’s license, drug screen and background check will be required.
