Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of one year of experience with heating, cooling and refrigerator and HVAC maintenance, and customer service.• Requires lifting up to 50 pounds, stooping, bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing and standing for long periods of time;
• Able to communicate verbally and via telephone;
• Must be willing and able to drive long distances;
• Must be willing to work day, evening or night hours at times; overtime, emergency call-outs, weekends and holidays as require
Other Requirements
• Basic knowledge of heating, ventilation and air-condition installations, maintenance and repair of heating and cooling units as well as refrigeration systems;
• Knowledge of electronic, mechanical and electrical components;
• Familiarity with solar panels, water-based heating systems or commercial refrigerator systems
• Basic knowledge of pertinent FCC/FAA/EPA/OSHA regulations.
• Sound analytical and mechanical skills
• Valid driver's license required.
Job Description
HVAC Technicians will maintain heating, air conditioning and cooling systems, diagnose and repair problems, or install and replace components or entire systems; perform additional maintenance or upgrades on out-of-season equipment; conduct performance checks and regular maintenance to ensure the heating, air conditioning and cooling systems' readiness for the next season.
• Install, maintain, repair or correct problems throughout the many mechanical and electrical motors, compressors, pumps, fans, ducts, pipes, thermostats, and switches which comprise heating, air-conditioning, and refrigeration systems
• Read and follow blueprints or other design specifications to install or repair HVAC systems
• Connect systems to fuel and water supply lines, air ducts, and other components
• Install electrical wiring and controls; test for proper operation
• Inspect and maintain customers' HVAC systems
• Test individual components to determine necessary repairs
• Repair or replace worn or defective parts
• Install fuel and water supply lines, air ducts and vents, pumps and other components
• Connect electrical wiring; controls use of combustion test equipment, such as carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide testers, combustion analyzers, and oxygen testers
• Use care to conserve, recover, and recycle the refrigerants used in air-conditioning and refrigeration systems
• Install oil, gas, electric, solid-fuel, and multiple-fuel heating systems and air-conditioning systems
• Assist in troubleshoot and repair with other Pearce HVAC Service Technicians
• Effectively evaluate HVAC customer problems by keeping abreast of equipment and technology
• Maintain a high service level by providing problem resolutions or forwarding inquiries to appropriate personnel or technicians
• Schedule appointments for service repairs/installations as needed
• Respond promptly/timely to HVAC alarms
• Prepare reports related to HVAC installation problems and questions for management review and action
• Attend training sessions on new products and technology to maintain a high degree of competence
• Travel to worksites
• Perform work with the awareness of all potential hazards, use personal protective equipment, utilize safe practices; attend and participate in all designated safety and training meetings.
