Field Safety Inspector

Job Description

The Field Safety Inspector will ensure compliance with internal, client and OSHA safety standards. This position assists in coordinating safety training programs and objectives for all QualTek companies.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Conduct daily walk through inspections and audits for QualTek sites
• Visit with crews and subcontractors to ensure safe work practices
• Conduct regular vehicle safety inspections and audits
• Conduct regular site inspections and assist with JSO’s as needed
• Recognize and assess sites and offices for imminent danger and act accordingly to correct it
• Assist with accident/injury investigations and root cause analysis
• Assist in changing behavior oriented towards safety
• Assist in all safety record keeping applications
• Participate in weekly mandatory safety meetings with the Safety Manager and Safety Specialists as able
• Assist RISK and Safety Team, as well as HR and management team, to identify training needs, tools and resources
• Present safety related training materials to classes as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education:
• High school diploma or general education degree (G.E.D.)
• 1-3 years’ experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience:
• 1-3 years of progressive field safety experience
• In depth knowledge of local, state and federal regulations regarding, but not limited to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
• Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of the avoidance, reduction, retention, and transfer of risk as it relates to a large telecommunications organization with geographically dispersed facilities and operations
• Thorough knowledge of the insurance industry and of all fields of insurance as well as detailed aspects of insurance and self-insurance management



Technical Skills:
• Microsoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Knowledge of background screening platforms and/or vendors preferred, but not required

Soft Skills:
• Ability to motivate, lead, teach and train on proper work and safety procedures
• Skilled in researching and resolving complex problems in order to ensure compliance
• Ability to consistently demonstrate sound ethics and judgment
• Above average decision making and problem solving skills
• Strong organizational, interpersonal ,verbal and written communication skills

Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing
• Individuals must have a valid driver’s license and driving record meeting the company policy conditions
• Travel up to 100% of the time, including short notice travel. Travel may include local site travel or national travel depending on training needs
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time on varied surfaces
• May be required to work long and unpredictable hours
• Position requires working outdoors in all types of weather
• Must be in good physical condition with the ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 50 lbs; includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxes
