Qualifications

1-3 years Splicing experience. Century Link experience preferred not required.

Technician must have own Truck, Van 0r SUV with Ladder Rack Technician will provide their own tools to perform their job. Smartphone and or Laptop may be required Technician will provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required for the position. Lace up boots with a defined 1/2 inch heel, hard hat, Reflective Safety vest, fall resistor (harness). Safety Cones. Other equipment may be required by local Management.

Job Description

Technicians should have any ladders necessary to perform aerial work. Techs need to be experienced in all aspects of Cable repair and restoration.
•Splices, terminates, calculates load and tapping of aerial, buried service wire and cable according to standard practice, procedure, and company, governmental, and electrical specifications.
•Maintains, tests, locates and clears faults from aerial, buried service wire or cable using test equipment from street to house.
•Replaces and repairs visible faults in single line installations with efficient and logical problem determination; interprets test equipment readings accurately to localize line trouble.
•Communicates independently, effectively, clearly, and professionally with outside technical staff, employees, supervisors and managers; establishes and maintains considerate and cooperative relationships with co-workers, supervisors and customers.
•Operates hand tools, including drills, saws, electric crimpers, grinders, and soldering irons, and test equipment, including Volt Ohm Meters (VOM), light wave test equipment, loop checkers, and test sets, according to procedures and safety guidelines.
•Travels to sites as necessary and on demand, complying with traffic laws, safety rules, regulations, and practices; accesses cable, pedestals, and other equipment by climbing ladders, poles, and scaffolding, walking through muddy areas or brush and shrubbery, and digging.
•Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure effective operation of department.
