Job Description

The equipment manager is responsible for managing and coordinating the maintenance and repair of all company vehicles, machines and special equipment, to ensure they are safe and in good running condition, to assist in maintaining an accurate inventory of assets, to maintain a safe and orderly work environment, and to supervise others in this process.

Essential Functions:
1. Monitors and tracks vehicles, heavy machines and special equipment to maintain an accurate inventory.
2. Checks vehicles and special equipment in and out to maintain accurate inventory accountability.
3. Coordinates with Operational Officer/HR in updating BMV registrations and current insurance.
4. Manages a maintenance schedule to ensure vehicles and equipment are safe and in good running condition.
5. Inspects equipment on a regular basis to comply with company safety policies.
6. Supervises mechanics and helpers in the maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
7. Coordinates repairs and maintenance with work crew schedules to minimize downtime.
8. Ensure that all specialized equipment and tools are calibrated for accuracy.
9. Purchases parts and supplies as needed in accordance with company policy and the accounting system.
10. Provides management with cost estimates of maintenance and repairs as needed.
11. Prepares periodic reports for management and accounting outlining fixed and controllable equipment costs.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and bend over, use hands, and reach. Must regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:30 pm Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel:
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required on occasion.

Required Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED.
At least three years’ experience in performing the above described essential duties.

Preferred Education and Experience:
Three year’s Supervisory experience.
Three year’s experience with diesel engine and hydraulics maintenance and repair.
Three year’s experience with heavy equipment/machines and large trucks.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) a plus.
Any additional special training or education in the above requirements.
Must be eligible to work in the United States.
Must be able to speak, read and understand English.
