Pay

Qualifications
Skilled individuals fix and splice our fiber lines. These employees need to be skilled in fusion splice fiber optics; terminate; and test fiber optic. Hands on experience in laying fiber or cable in the ground is a must. If you think you have the skills, and are already trained in fiber splicing - we would love to hear from you.
Other Requirements
Ability to work out of either our West Jordan or Syracuse location. Must have valid drivers license. Can't have more then 2 moving violations on their driving record. Applicant will be drug tested. Must disclose any felonies. Will need to get a DOT medical card. Will provide SCI with a copy of their motor vehicle report. 2-3 professional references. Copy of any certifications, CPR, OSHA, Etc.
Job Description
SCI is a leader in the excavation and communication division of construction. What does that mean? It means we are experts in fiber and cable placement in underground and aerial capacities. We need these employees to be skilled in fusion splice fiber optics; terminate; and test fiber optic. Other Job technical job requirements:
Extend and swing drops; hand and splice pole mount terminals and peds; place spacers between strand and cable; de-lash and re-lash; splice cases, build cold enclosure cases; mount cases in manholes.
Use of ladders, buckets trucks (can't have a fear of heights).
Able to worked in confined spaces.
Ability to lift heavy objects.
Knowledge of OTDR and testing fiber.
Prepares truck and machinery daily, includes but not limited to: checking oil, fueling, greasing, preventative maintenance, cleaning trailer, stocking with supplies, emptying garbage, checking lights on trailer,running through the maintenance check list.
Organizes and oversees inventory of tools and daily preparation of truck and machinery.
Completes paperwork daily, in a neat and legible fashion. Paperwork includes but is not limited to: time cards,job reports, cable charge out reports, material reports, DOT forms, etc.
Loads and unloads equipment.
Maintains a checklist on equipment, materials used, man hours, etc.
Keeps truck and tools organized, clean, and accounted for.
Communicates directly with the foreman in safety needs, work needs, and individual needs.
Actively participates in weekly safety meetings.
Follows established safety rules on job site, to and from job site, and uses common sense in maintaining a safe environment for self, team members, customers, and public.
Reports progress of jobs to Foreman and discusses any problems for resolution.
Monitors and verifies quality control and uniformity of work.
Assists in any other assigned tasks as required.

Actual Fiber Splicing in the Utility line of work: 1 year
