Job Description
TelForce Group is looking for a CATV Balance/Sweep Technician in Central America.
Responsible for preventative maintenance and repair of CATV distribution system. Responsibilities will include daily quota maintenance, forward and return balancing the system through the use of test equipment, setting up a system sweep generator as well as performing other related duties.
CATV Balance/Sweep Technician Duties:
• Testing and repair of system components and distribution of system
• Calculate system signal losses and make necessary adjustments to resolve problems
• Install in-line devices on system backbone (node, amplifiers, line extenders, taps, splitters and power supplies) as necessary
• Maintain plant and network integrity through preventative maintenance
• Perform routine tests, sweep and balance of the plant
• Familiar with test equipment used to maintain all facilities and powering
• Conduct system tests and keep records/render reports relative to system operation
• Install and maintain fiber optic transport, nodes and splice fiber optic cables
• Performs other duties as assigned
CATV Balance/Sweep Technician Requirements:
• 5+ years of CATV experience
• Must be bilingual
• Must have excellent training skills management
• Must be willing to travel to Central America up to 30 days at a time
• Ability to manipulate connectors, fasteners, wire and other devices and use a variety of hand tools
• Qualified to operate a bucket truck
• Knowledge of National Electrical Codes and FCC requirements
• Ability to review and comprehend cable maps and engineering
• Must be able to climb ladders, poles or other structures
• Must be able to carry equipment or materials of up to 50 pounds over uneven terrain
• Willingness to learn, adapt and accept increasing responsibility
