Job Description
CAD Technician

This is a technical position requiring specific skills related to computer aided drafting (CAD) for the telecommunications industry. The CAD Technician will assimilate multiple sources of information and develop graphic drawings either by hand or by using a computer-aided drafting program. Digitizing services include the following: multiple communications designs; posting staking construction units from OSP unit tabulations and/or field notes; pair or fiber assignment posting; existing mapping records posting; special unit drawings or schematics; and as-built mapping from field records.
Required Experience:
• Provide training, general assistance, and oversight to CAD data collection field personnel for a specific project.
• Create new base maps and post existing system maps from available records.
• Assist with the preparation of CAD proposals and scope of work requests.
• Assist with the revision/acceptance of internal CAD work requests.
• Participate in multiple communications design layouts as prepared by Network Planning design personnel.
• Digitize pair and fiber assignment schematics and associated detail drawings, network layout drawings, construction maps from hand-drawn staking maps and field notes.
• Prepare miscellaneous drawings and map sets from mapping resource subscriptions for environmental report map plotting.
• Three years of CAD experience
