System Manager / General Manager
JOB SUMMARY
The System or General Manager is responsible for the overall operations of Vyve Broadband’s systems within a defined geographic area. The System or General Manager is accountable for operational objectives and results. He or she is responsible for personnel and functional management within their defined area. The System Manager must analyze, assess and refine operational methods and processes, drive PSU and revenue objectives and control operating expenses.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide general management oversight of systems including staffing, employee relations, performance standards, personnel evaluations, compensation recommendations, training, succession planning and the encouragement and maintenance of a discrimination-free and healthy work environment.
• Participates, provides direction and / or preparation of the annual operating plan, capital and expense budgets.
• Reviews key measurement reports and financial statements to determine performance against objectives and then revises objectives and establishes action plans to meet or exceed objectives.
• Verifies, monitors, justifies and approves all expense and capital expenditures.
• Drives financial and PSU growth in their system to meet or exceed company objectives.
• Assures all functions operate in a cost effective manner within the operating plan budget for both capital and expenses.
• Assures compliance with company guidelines regarding quality, customer service, safety, work order completion and closeout productivity requirements.
• Works closely and productively with Vyve corporate and regional personnel in various functional areas including marketing, operations, engineering, accounting, legal, billing and programming.
• Works closely with the regional Training and Safety Manager and ensures applicable training and development of all employees to meet the highest levels of customer service, quality and productivity.
• Establishes and maintains the highest standards of on-the-job safety practices in accordance with Company safety policies, OSHA safety requirements and National Electric Safety Code.
• In conjunction with the regional Training and Safety Manager, the System Manager works aggressively to ensure a safe working environment. Motivates, develops and ensures compliance with all safety related programs. Ensures accidents and carefully evaluated in a timely manner.
• Maintains favorable working relations with utilities and insures accurate pole counts and compliance with NESC and pole agreement specifications.
• Works to minimize loss prevention and property damage incidents.
• Insures all cash handling processes are consistently followed and in full compliance with company policies.
• Ensures the highest level of customer satisfaction and responsiveness. Works closely with the regional call center(s) and insures the fastest possible response to service and installation requests. Frequently works to satisfactorily resolve escalated customers issues.
• Insures prompt resolution of escalated work orders.
• Acts as the primary point of contact for local franchising authorities. Leads all franchise renewal processes. Proactively maintains relationships and favorable standing with government agencies and representatives.
• Insures inventories and assets are inventoried routinely with minimal loss.
• Establishes and maintains a favorable and visible presence in the communities where we serve. Participates in service organizations, community events, charity and civic events. Works closely with Vyve’s marketing and public affairs departments to promote a favorable community understanding and appreciation of Vyve Broadband products and services. Encourages staff participation in local community events and programs.
• Communicate effectively with customers, management, employees and installation, service and construction partners (contractors).
• Works with and motivates supervisors and employees in a respectful manner to promote a positive attitude and good employee morale.
• Provides leadership and direction to the local staff including but not limited to hiring, disciplining, motivating and assessing management and team performance and identifying developmental needs and solutions.
• Responsible for daily operational performance of the entire system/state or functional area.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree (B.S. or B.A.) preferred or equivalent combination of training and/or experience considered.
• Five (5) years of general cable television operational management experience preferred.
• Experience in supervision/management of teams, significant complex projects and cross functional team management at a leadership level required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to influence and negotiate at a senior level.
• Strong results origination with the ability to think and communicate strategically and manage tactical details.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference; ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations; ability to define problems, collect data, analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables; ability to handle confidential material and information; individual must be organized, able to multi-task under pressure.
• MS Office software, business or general ledger software, Internet, e-mail, and database software as required.
• The employee generally works in an indoor office environment; attendance at evening or weekend company functions and events and/or public relations functions and events is expected. Some travel may be required.
