Job Description

Responsible for supervising claims resolution and damage resolution team for all business units. The supervisor will prioritize and audit work, review and approve payments/settlements on damage claims within specified authority, identify training needs, and interface with internal and external customers as needed. The supervisor will escalate claims issues that meet specified criteria to the Corporate Risk & Insurance Manager. The supervisor is responsible for ensuring quality and quantity goals are met within the damage/claims resolution team.

Most job time is spent in office environment with some field work required. Office hours and schedule may vary.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Damage Claims Supervisor will be responsible for performing the following duties:

Supervise staff of 4 or more Damage/Claims resolution analysts.
Manage daily activities and workload of group.
Drive high standard of quality and productivity of group.
Report monthly accounting/accrual for damage claims over all business units to Corporate Risk and Insurance Manager and Corporate Accounting department.
Review weekly damage claim reports from each business unit, ensuring thoroughness and accuracy of payments made for claims.
Provide weekly consolidated damage claims report to Corporate Risk and Insurance Manager.
Perform quarterly audits of damage claims.
Assist Corporate Risk and Insurance Manager with damage claims reviews.
Interface with internal and external customers on escalated damage claims issues.
Interface with damage investigation team and/or field staff on investigative process and claims resolution as needed.
Assist Safety Team with corrective and preventative actions resulting from damage claims.
Mentor Damage/Claims resolution analysts for performance improvements.
Assist internal/external parties with damage-related questions and concerns.
Escalate specified damage, third-party and/or litigated cases to Corporate Risk and Insurance Manager according to predetermined criteria; assist with additional investigation as needed.
Provide ad hoc reports as required by Corporate Risk and Insurance Manager or Director of HSE/Risk Management.
Handle/administer warrants in debt.
Conduct performance reviews for Damage/Claims resolution analysts.
Ensure time sheets are accurate, signed, and processed in a timely manner.
Ensure that all company policies and procedures are followed.
Perform other work related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

BS/BA and 5-8 years of experience in utility claims or damage resolution experience.
Industry experience may be substituted for BS/BA.
Multi-utility experience preferred to include telecommunications, power, and gas.
Clean background check for access to restricted and/or controlled areas.
Valid driver license with acceptable driving record.
Ability to pass random drug screens and to remain drug free.
Specialized skills training/certification may be required.
Dependable and trustworthy.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to look beyond the standard solutions.

REQUIREMENTS

Comprehensive understanding of underground utility construction/locating and placement required.
May require weekend and holiday work when necessary.
Some travel may be required including overnight stays and out of town assignments and or training.
Must have excellent computer skills, including Word and Excel.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds in a physical environment.
Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions.
