Job Description

FTTP Design/Survey Technician

Aero Communications provides outsourced fulfillment, construction maintenance and project-based wireless infrastructure services to large telecommunications companies throughout the U.S. At Aero we pride ourselves in promoting a culture that challenges and engages each of our employees. We are currently seeking Fiber Design & Survey Technicians to work out of our office in Raleigh, NC.

Duties and Responsibilities - Survey:

• Coordinate access to multiple dwelling units and commercial properties with landlords, tenants or property managers
• Validate baseline document accuracy (floorplans, blueprints, aerial photographs, etc.)
• Determine exterior (outside plant – aerial and underground) routing of fiber by performing physical walkouts including documenting footages, access points, obstacles and other existing conditions
• Determine the interior routing of cable to individual living units or businesses by performing physical walkouts including documenting riser diagrams, footages and access points.
• Mark system print or sketch from provider to propose route in detail.
• Take photographs of key equipment locations, obstacles, or proposed build locations
• Make detailed field notes outlining proposed installation method
• Upload sketches and photographs to specified online systems
Duties and Responsibilities - Design:
• Develop digital design packages based on survey sketches, photographs and field notes
• Incorporate images and data into design packages from public utility services (easements, boundaries, right of way, etc.)
• Incorporate images and data into design packages from customer provided fiber planning system
• Develop photo simulations using Adobe Photoshop (or similar provided software) showing what proposed equipment will look like once installed (by transposing images of network equipment onto photographs taken during survey)
• Develop detailed listings of materials required to complete build
• Develop detailed listings of labor required to complete build
• Complete listing and validation of unit addressing forms

Requisite Skills and Knowledge:

• Excellent organizational skills.
• Able to multitask and prioritize.
• Able to communicate with customers in a positive, professional manner.
• Experience with Adobe Photoshop (or similar photo manipulation software), Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Experience with AutoCAD or similar software will be helpful but not required.
• Previous experience in telecommunications, particularly around fiber projects or MDU builds helpful but not required.
• Comfort utilizing digital systems for data capture and manipulation (online file storage systems, photo applications on phones and tablets, etc.)
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Driving record and background check must meet company guidelines for employment.

Physical Requirements:

• Work outside in all types of weather.
• Able to work at heights of 3-25 ft.
• Able to bend, stand, sit, crawl, climb, and lift throughout each day.
