Qualifications
3+ years splicing fiber in an active system. Ability to read work prints, comprehend and produce splicing documentation, audit existing plant and complete production paperwork with correct splice case information. Experience operating aerial lifts and entering confined spaces. Competent working knowledge of the following: Fujikura, Sumitomo and Inno fusion splicers, Noyes & Exfo OTDRs and mower meters, Tyco/Raychem, 3M, PLP (Coyote) & Antec closures as well as ISP rack and wall-mount panels.
Other Requirements
Also, experience with Microsoft suite is a plus. Experience splicing and testing CWDM & DWDM MUXs is also preferable. HAND TOOLS ARE REQUIRED. All other splicing or specialty equipment will be provided.
Job Description
We are general contractor for Comcast in the Oregon/SW Washington region. We perform all types of construction including but not limited to: aerial build, directional boring & trenching, ISP construction, coax and fiber splicing and testing, node segmentation, emergency repair and general plant maintenance.
The fiber splicing aspect of our SOW includes nightly tie-in splicing for new HSI customers, case audits, cut-overs, mid-sheaths, ISP patch panels and OTDR testing.
We are currently looking for a splicer who is punctual, reliable and diligent, someone who is comfortable and confident working independently and takes pride in producing a clean and consistent product.
A majority of our work takes place at night. Typically, our techs rotate shifts every two weeks. YOU MUST BE OKAY WITH WORKING AT NIGHT. Some overtime is necessary.
