ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Customer Service Technician will perform installation, maintenance and repair on all station facilities and equipment The Technician will be required to climb poles, use a shovel, pick and other tools to dig cable and may be required to work in controlled environmental vaults (CEV).
Attendance, conduct and performance records will be considered in the selection process.
Observe all safety rules and regulations.
Assist other Technical personnel in the performance of their duties when requested.
Convey a positive and professional appearance and demeanor when communicating the company’s products and services to our customers.
Actively support sales and marketing related activities
Assume all other duties as assigned
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
Preference to experience in DSL installation, Copper Cable.
Ability to visually identify all colors used in telephone cable.
Ability to handle a 28-foot extension ladder (75 lbs.) and a manhole cover (150 lbs.)
Possession of proficient PC skills, including use of Microsoft products, electronic mail and the Internet.
Possession of a valid Class D driver’s license.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work involves standing, talking, hearing, using hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reaching with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk (10%), sit (5%), climb (10%), balance (5%), stand (15%), stoop (5%), kneel (5%), drive (20%), reach (10%), and smell (5%). Skill in operation of some of the listed tools and equipment; and ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time.
The employee must frequently push, pull, lift (10%) and/or carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally push, pull, lift and/or carry up to 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in inclement weather conditions.
The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration.
The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Combination of education and relevant work experience totaling two (2) years post-high school or equivalent.
Minimum of two (2) years recent experience in installation, maintenance and repair of station facilities.
Proven, successful customer contact experience.
Completion of basic courses in pole climbing, basic electricity, installation/repair, basic cable transmission and cable air pressure courses or equivalent job experience
