Job Description
The HFC Designer designs, coordinates plots, maps, and determines fiber node placement requirements for hybrid fiber-coax (HFC) and/or fiber optic networks. The designer creates accurate network maps, layouts, drawings, and detailed electronic construction prints to customer specifications. Develops and maintains network specification files. May perform cost analysis for trenching, sweeping, node splits and upgrade projects.
Responsibilities:
? Create HFC designs using Lode Data or other applicable software
? Design extensions and complete small system redesigns, in accordance with customer design specifications
? Complete forward and reverse system RF design work
? Create drafts using AutoCAD, Spatial Net, or other software
? Utilize AutoCAD or other customer specified software to post strand mapping data, complete large fiber designs, and to post fiber designs
? Produce, consistent, high quality HFC(Hybrid Fiber Coax) designs and/or drafts
? Process engineering change orders to ensure that all related work is complete and accurate and that all related documentation is acquired and routed properly
? Perform quality control checks on field mapping notes and/or map digitizing received from others to ensure that all drafting specifications and RF design specifications have been met
? Perform quality control checks on all designs to verify powering specifications are met
? Sum footages that are associated with field mapping notes, digitizing routing maps, and design maps while differentiating between aerial and underground plant as required
? Provide necessary information to construction or maintenance personnel, on a timely basis, including strand maps, design maps and BOM’s or digital files
? Maintain high level production rates
? Learn new software and adapt to new technologies when required
? Reliable attendance and willing to work to project completion against deadlines
? Communicate effectively and professionally with team members, management and customer or local representatives
Qualifications:
? Must have 1 or more years of experience producing HFC designs
? Must have 1 or more years of experience using Lode Data
? Must have 1 or more years of experience drafting in AutoCAD
? Must have a high school degree or GED
? Associates or 4-year degree is preferred
? Experience with Spatial Net is preferred
? Experience with GNIS is preferred
? Experience with Bentley Comms is preferred
? Experience with FocusOne is preferred
? Experience with Focus95 is preferred
? Must have effective written and verbal communication skills
Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen
