Make Ready Engineer positions are located in both Tampa, FL and Jacksonville, FL.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or two (2) years of related, progressively responsible work experience
Able to develop understanding of relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).Ability to develop knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, design criteria and codes relevant to the discipline.The physical ability to perform walk downs.Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Other Requirements
Desktop automation skills (Microsoft Office Suite). Personal vehicle maybe required if company car ins't available. If personal vehicle is required mileage will be offered.
Job Description
The Outside Plant (OSP) Make Ready Engineer is responsible for make-ready work associated with fiber to the home (FTTH) projects, including fiber installation assessments, coordination with pole owners, permitting, right-of-way, and related tasks to facilitate FTTH design and construction work. Given the geographic scope of responsibilities, the incumbent will need to occasionally travel to areas where construction activity is ongoing. Duties include:
Develop, implement, and scale the end-to-end process for make-ready, permitting, right-of-way, etc. to accelerate FTTH design and construction.Work cross-functionally with other teams within network and OSP engineering to ensure a cost-effective plant.Support the design and engineering process by planning and preparing drawings for construction of new and removal or rearrangement of existing fiber optics.Identify any NESC or Utility violations and revise point of attachment (POA) for fiber bundle to meet NESC and utility clearance requirements
Complete pole surveys, pole loading analysis, drawings, and QC drawings in support of application preparation.Create BOM utilizing the pole owner's system and inventory numbers.
