Field OSP Engineer positions are located in both Tampa, FL and Jacksonville, FL.
Qualifications
Progressive work experience, which can include field engineering and telecoms experience.Understanding of the standard engineering and construction work planning and the ability to conduct independent work requiring judgment in the application of engineering techniques with the use of conventional approaches to technical problems encountered.Demonstrated experience working in a team environment, project work, planning and coordinating assigned work to meet the project schedules.
Other Requirements
Tools will be provided and personal vehicle will be needed if company car isn't available. If personal vehicle is needed mileage will be offered.
Job Description
You'll be responsible for the walk downs of the proposed telecommunications network to obtain information regarding the installation and constructability of the fiber routes, assessments of the conceptual designs, and coordination with the Engineering and Construction teams. This includes:
Review of existing records and comparison of records against actual field conditions.Document any conflicts with existing utilities.Provide comments and notes for design information via electronic tablet and/or drawings.Perform investigations of adverse ground conditions and obstructions (such as utilities, trees, etc.).Take and confirm measurements of ROW, vault, cable, and other infrastructures with measuring wheel and tape measure.Notate preferred locations for new facility structures (vaults, drop vaults, cabinets, etc).
Assess existing pole conditions, potential make ready work, and tree trimming.
Verify all addresses and Multiple Dwelling Unit (MDU) names and total number of units within a given design area.Perform a right-of-way and route assessment to confirm the route corridor is acceptable and can be built in the most cost-effective manner.Conduct a route or site walk down to collect data of all surface features and underground utility data necessary to support the preparation of the construction drawings that are complete and suitable for submittal to local jurisdictions to obtain construction permits.
