Job Description and Responsibilities :
Summary
The Coax Splicing Technician establishes communications systems by installing, operating, and maintaining voice and data telecommunications network circuits and equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Plans network splicing by studying customer orders, plans manuals and technical specifications
• Orders and gathers equipment, supplies, materials and tools, assessing installation site
• Prepares installation diagrams
• Establishes voice and data networks by running, pulling, terminating and splicing cables
• Verifies service by testing circuits, equipment; identifying, correcting, or escalating problems
• Documents network by labeling and routing equipment and cables; recording configuration diagrams and specifications
• Maintains network by troubleshooting and repairing outages; testing network back-up procedures; updating documentation
• Maintains customer rapport by listening to and resolving concerns; answering questions
• Maintains safe work environment by following codes, standards, and legal regulations
• Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; verifying receipt
• Work safely at all times utilizing the necessary Personal Protection Equipment
• Possess a high level of independent judgment within established procedures

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 1-2 years of telecommunication construction experience; cable experience preferred
Ability to work extended hours (overtime) as needed
May be required to work long and unpredictable hours
Position requires working outdoors in all types of weather
Must be able to lift 70 pounds
Candidates must be able to pass pre-employment testing (motor vehicle, drug and background)
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma; 4 years’ experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
