Qualifications
•5+ years of cable mapping experience a must. Previous cable locating experience preferred, Knowledge of cable design and construction of cable systems. •Detailed knowledge of fielding process and/or construction practices a must. •Ability to read maps. •Strong analytical, observation and communication skills. •Ability to learn new software and technologies. •Ability to deal with field issues and confrontation effectively and in a timely manner. Must be able to work outdoors

Job Description
The pre-fielder involves developing a field survey map that includes diagrams of existing customer infrastructure such as septic tanks, well lines or dog fences and any other utilities in proposed path.
All data collected in the field must be input into a pre-field drawing. Determine the most feasible route for service deployment to both commercial and residential properties for fiber applications. Meet with the customer/property management to determine the preferred routing and options for building entry. Determine the existing utility path to the building. Identify pre-selected tie points in the field. Build extension from tie point to building. Responsible for routing and all linear measurements to successful complete construction from the tie point to the building using best construction methods available.
The Pre-Fielder performs outside plant proposed route and survey in support of Telecom Company and works to complete projects within budget and scheduling restraints. The Pre-Fielder should have knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in a civil engineering environment and will rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
The Pre-Fielder will:
• Collaborate with others (project managers, drop bury technicians or customer administration) to learn how to devise best network solutions
• Apply engineering design standards to underground cable plant
• Visually identify, inspect, and record equipment and structures in the right-of-way
• Perform field audits of existing outside plant activities
• Analyze and produce cost effective design solutions
• Resolve anticipated construction problems through drawings

Requirements:
• Must be familiar with CAD Experience
• Must be able to work in all weather conditions
• Must be able to endure frequent: Driving, standing, walking long distances (3 miles or more in a day), navigating rough terrain on foot and lifting/balancing objects that may weigh up to ~20 lbs. and require the use of upper extremities and back muscles; work in proximity to moving vehicles in the right of way.
• Must have dependable transportation and valid driver’s license and insurance
• Must provide smart phone and measuring wheel
• Must be computer literate – especially Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
• Must be authorized to work in the United States
• Ability to occasionally learn and operate company based proprietary software and other computer systems to expedite
