Job Description

An Underground Foreman’s primary duty is to direct the activities of everyone and everything on his or her job site. He or She must take everything into account and make sound judgments; this person is the leader on the crew that all others look to for direction, motivation, and indication of success. The Underground Construction Foreman must communicate what is expected and what needs done in order to make the job site as efficient and profitable as possible.

An Underground Construction Operator is typically considered the “Number Two” person on a crew and as such, pays an increasingly bigger role in assisting the foreman in running an efficient and profitable job site. Of course, the primary role is to operate the equipment as directed in order to achieve the results required by the foreman. As such, the operator needs to take great care in avoiding costly downtime by maintaining the equipment and by not hitting utilities.

•Standard Work Week: Sunday - Saturday; work schedule determined by season, weather, deadlines, and availability of work
•Travel: 100%, the employee must be willing to cover a large area and will travel on a daily basis with overnight stays. There will be a rotation schedule to ensure employee have time to go home as well.
•Environment Conditions: at times will be exposed to various contaminants, like exhausted vapors, gas/diesel fumes, dust; be subjected to noisy conditions; diverse weather conditions, including high heat (over 90°), freezing conditions (below 15°), and all forms of precipitation (high humidity/snow/rain)
•Physical Conditions: Able to frequently move objects weighing in excess of 100lbs for distances greater than fifty feet; remain in a stationary position for several hours; able to move from one location to another around the jobsite; must be able to manipulate various controls on equipment; ability to constantly be able to reposition oneself
