Job Description and Responsibilities :
NX Utilities LLC is a Telecom and Utility Construction company with over 13 years of experience in the industry, with a large and diverse customer base reaching from coast to coast. Our 6 divisional offices support operations in most major markets in our North American Foot-print.
NX Utilities LLC is seeking a full time Underground Construction Foreman.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
The Underground Construction Technician will provide on-site supervision of all construction related activities
Must have thorough knowledge of the industry procedures governing excavation.
Working knowledge of foreign utility locates and mandatory emergency response guidelines prior to excavation.
Ability to operate a backhoe, trencher and digger.
Perform general maintenance on equipment.
Knowledge of utility markings.
Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations concerning excavations; specifically electrical hazards and safety procedures.
Knowledge of procedures for locates prior to excavations.
Drive utility vehicles (CDL drivers only) while following all operating instructions, safety standards and guidelines, and DOT responsibilities.
Maintain safe working environment by keeping work areas clean and free of trash, scrap material and equipment not in use.
Train junior staff members
Attend regular safety meetings
Supervisory Responsibilities
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. This position will be responsible for leading a crew in the erection and repair of wireless towers and co-location system placement

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 5 years’ experience as an underground construction technician, at least 2 years managing a crew
Demonstrate the ability to instruct others on the proper use of tools and equipment
Must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds
May work long and irregular hours to restore service
Frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock, moving mechanical parts, and exposed to outside weather
Valid Driver License
Must be able to pass background and drug screen
CDL preferred, but not required
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma; 3 years’ experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
