Job Description
The Vendor Manager is responsible for coordinating the deployment of all subcontractors performing onsite construction services for the awarded projects in the designated regions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Responsible for tracking the vendor’s performance and collaborating with the markets and quality teams
• Manage site subcontract operations to ensure the effective administration of subcontractors
• Work closely with Shared Services in coordinating the efforts of the vendor approval process
• Collect and police all required vendor safety certifications
• Mobilize subcontractor crews into the various markets on an as-needed basis set by the GMs
• Maintain and grow existing customer base and manage churn
• Conduct vendor meetings and serve as the liaison between vendors and contractors, and the corporate office
• Recruit, initiate, and communicate with vendors through leads/referrals, business development and/or attending wireless conventions
• Prescreen and qualify potential vendors gathering all pertinent information from start to complete in the vendor approval process
• Act as the main liaison between vendor and contracts management in obtaining and following up on all required documentation during the approval process
• Responsible for tracking vendor performance while collaborating with management in each market in identifying quality subs through reporting methods
• Collect and manage the vendor safety certifications for all crews working onsite for NX Utilities in order to be in compliance
• Provide management with weekly reporting based on the daily updates
• Make official announcement to the various markets on those vendors approved
• Provide access to the subcontractor database to the approved markets GMs
• Update the subcontractor database with daily reporting
• Create a reporting card on those vendors that completed onsite services and update the database
• Work with Operations to provide vendor management with scope and crew count plus additional information about scope to present to candidates
• Identify subcontractors from the subcontractor database most suitable for the scope of work
• Requests POs from the GM and assign PO number to the first negotiated batch of sites
• Dispatch vendor crews to respective market to then be directed by the GMs/PMs
• Set up the proper expectations to those subcontractors providing services onsite
• Provide scope of work to vendor, assign PO, close out/change orders/true ups/ invoice procedures/payment terms
• Follow up with account receivables/payables on expected payment to vendors for completed work
• Follow up with vendor for final payment for said services completed
• Communicate with GM/PM in market on final reporting for those subs that performed services
Supervisory Responsibilities
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. • 5+ years of OSP/ISP construction, aerial/underground construction experience, with 5+ years of management experience, preferably with underground utility construction experience
• High level of organization and attention to detail
• Must be highly organized, analytical, and detail-oriented with the ability to meet strict deadlines
• Ability to read, comprehend and carry out instructions
• Excellent communication skills including an ability to communicate and work effectively with business and technical managers at all levels of the organization
• Proficient in MS Office
• Strong attention to detail
• Must be able pass drug, background and MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) check
Education and/or Experience
Four Year University / College Degree or a minimum of (5) year’s industry experience in the utility construction and telecommunications industry.
