Job Description
Fielding on aerial photography maps with all homes, buildings, commercial accounts with addresses already on them. We follow the existing design and basically connect the power and occasional phone poles as the poles are on the map with sub meter accuracy. We draw in all needed anchors, overhead guys, etc. No house counts nor any addressing as their is no drop routing done in the field. This is already on the design maps.
Occasionally we come across a pole that cannot be used or a pole transfer since our first pass where we decide which one to use, so we can perform the pole loading measurements and photos.
The six crews there love the city, as we have had no encounters in bad areas, however you need to plan your day around the traffic. Keep in mind doing this type work you might only cover 3/4 to 1 mile in a day, so the traffic is just something to plan around headed to the job site for the most part.
All maps are emailed to be printed in field and all employees and contractors are assigned a Share File account to upload the photos, pole work sheets ( 11 x 17" ) and maps. Maps are 1"-100 at 11x17 size and really nice maps. I can send anyone an example of the maps we have done.
Fiber Interconnect Mapping on other projects is simply strand mapping of new routes and make ready measurements at poles and mid-spans. Some permitting is expected for those that have a background doing DOT - Railway permits as well.
