Qualifications
•Associate’s Degree in a CAD or Engineering related field and 4 - 5 years of related experience (technical knowledge of the telecommunications and/or civil engineering industry, utility construction practices, and local governing authority rules for placement of facilities).
•Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical specifications, engineering documents, and construction drawings.
•Must be able to demonstrate efficiency, accuracy and reasonable speed
Job Description
The Engineering Technician prepares CAD drawings, performs site surveys, and assists with permitting, in accordance with company policies, procedures, quality standards, and time frames necessary to meet customer delivery requirements.
This position will frequently perform work utilizing several software packages including AutoCAD, Microstation, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
•Prepare project documentation, maps, and CAD drawings. Aid in research and acquisition of permits and rights-of-way.
•Receive sketches or GPS data from engineers’ field surveys and create prints for construction.
•Use GPS equipment to gather field data for underground permits.
•Use OSP field equipment to gather utility pole line information.
•Abide by and issue prints adhering to industry and construction codes, practices and safety standards under the direction of OSP Engineers.
•Code data for O-Calc and run pole loading calculations.
•Stay current in new developments in the industry
•Develop working relationships with Management, Project Managers, Foremen, and co-workers to address and resolve problems and work in a cooperative manner to achieve company goals.
•Act as a technical resource for field support of customers, sales, and operations, assisting in and addressing and resolving questions and problems.
•Accurately complete time sheets, expense reports, mileage reports, and other job related paperwork.
•Communicate with customers about project progress where applicable.
•Other duties as assigned by Management.
