Qualifications
Experienced in fiber and copper splicing and testing. 2-4 years related experience. Must be willing to travel. Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand, walk and work on uneven ground for the full workday. Must have good eyesight and hearing capabilities. Must work outside in all types of weather conditions. Must be able to use all types of common hand tools and splicing tools of the trade.
Other Requirements
Vehicle and tools are provided. Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
Job Description
All employees attend a Monday Safety meeting at the office. Must have knowledge of networking fiber and copper. Attaining a low loss splice through a proficient cleave and splice is required. Responsible for the testing of fiber optic cable; along with displaying and interpreting results for the purpose of analyzing and documenting fiber optic links. Ability to operate the following devices: OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) - measures end to end loss, point lossed such as splices, connectors and fiber breaks. Power Meter & Light Source - displays system loss over the fiber and both end connectors. Travel extensively in and out of state.
