Job Description
Primary responsibilities for this position include:
• Splice fiber optic cables using single and mass fusion equipment
• Terminate fiber with pig tails or Unicam components
• Test fiber using Optical Time Domain (OTDR) or power meter and light source, field testing with a light identifier
• Install required capsules and hardware
• Maintain existing plant without causing signal failure interruptions
• Maintain test documentation
• Organizational and Communication skills are very important
• Highly responsible and attentive to detail
• Maintain project tracing information (production sheets, time sheets, and customer required paperwork)
• Keep a safe working environment
Required skills/qualifications:
• Proficient at completing certification testing of fiber optic systems
• High School Diploma
• Ability to work aloft up to 50’ in a bucket truck, ladder, or climb utility poles
• Understand construction prints and splice schematics
• Proficient in the use of all test and splicing equipment and must know how to use computer and all software used by the company concerning the completion of fiber optic projects.
• Able and willing to work outdoors and in inclement weather conditions
• Able and willing to be on call 24 hours, travel, and work nights/weekends
• Willing to travel outside of home state
