Qualifications
• Be able to splice, activate and troubleshoot coax plant
• Knowledge of safe operation of a bucket van
• Organized with good communications skills
• Must be willing to travel when necessary
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Must pass a DOT Physical and Drug Screen
Other Requirements
• Splice trunk and feeder coax cable
• Read and understand design prints
• Splice and activate nodes
• Organize field splicers
• Operate a bucket van while observing all safety regulations
• Properly fill out daily paperwork, i.e. daily worksheets and vehicle logs.
• Work with QC Manager to ensure that the department personnel performs to the high standard of workmanship required by BAS
• Both Night and Day work.
Job Description
Splice and activate coax cable systems, including fiber optic "Nodes" and other equipment for transmitting data or television programming.
Tasks:
• Clean and maintain tools and test equipment.
• Splice cable systems using hand tools or mechanical equipment.
• Inspect, activate and test lines and cables, recording and analyzing test results, to assess transmission characteristics and locate faults and malfunctions both forward and return frequencies.
• Access specific areas to string lines and install taps, splitters amplifiers, auxiliary equipment, and appliances, using bucket trucks, or by climbing poles and ladders or entering tunnels, trenches, or crawl spaces.
• Set up service for customers, installing, connecting, testing, and adjusting equipment.
• Place insulation over conductors, and seal splices with moisture-proof covering.
• Knowledge of safe operation of a bucket van.
• Pole climbing experience preferable.
• Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, and brakes, to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition.
• Maintain records such as vehicle logs, in accordance with regulations.
• Other Tasks as determined by Management

• Troubleshooting - Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
