Regional Director – OSP Fiber Build
Position Summary
Bear Communications is currently recruiting for an OSP Market Director to oversee a large fiber build project. As the Regional OSP Market Director, you will assign work to Project Managers and oversee all employee and crew activity to ensure that all telecom builds and projects are completed to customer specifications, time lines, and budget. We are seeking an experienced Market Director who has the ability to work closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers, Customer Supply Teams, Logistics/Warehouse suppliers, and General Contractors. Previous experience working on large Telecommunications projects is preferred. The preferred candidate needs to posses the ability to learn techniques and acquire knowledge in a short period of time.
Essential Job Functions
As OSP Market Director you will be required, but not limited to:
• Ability to multi-task and work under tight time lines and thrive on day to day operational pressure. Accountability and ownership are essential for this role.
• Fiber Optic certification (BICSI, FOA) beneficial
• Ability to use fiber optic test equipment required
• Must be able to read and interpret construction drawings/ blueprints - required
• Familiarity with operation of trenching and boring machines required
• Familiarity with splicing of optical fiber required
• Familiarity with permit processes, locates and working with municipal agencies and utilities required
• Responsible for managing the Service Providers (SPs) and associated work crews working within their assigned regions.
• Responsible for ensuring daily and weekly production rate is achieved.
• Responsible for recommending which SPs should be awarded ‘Work Ready to be Awarded’, based on experience with the SPs and the type of work needed for the specific work area.
• Responsible for ensuring the Service Providers materials are drawn on a weekly basis.
• Enforce the use of the CAM OSP tool by all SP crews, ensuring that it is being used properly, or arrange for training when required.
• Supporting calculations for review and approval by a licensed professional engineer.
• Perform quality assurance reviews of third party work as part of Vendor QA and programs and evaluate performance.
• Review analyses in order to reduce modification costs through the Insufficient Structural Analysis (ISA) process.
• Develop analysis tools and training presentations, and conduct training sessions. Participate in large project development engineering processes, standards, and tools/programs.
• Determine the cause of overstresses and plan for practical cost effective reinforcement/modification systems.
• Specify reinforcement systems and components to address customer requirements and produce well documented calculations.
• Prior Claims or Repair & Return experience preferred.
• Review work of Associate and Design Engineers.
• Overall driving of P&L
• Be familiar with OSHA and other safety regulations.
• Familiar and experience with a project size worth $30-$40million.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Handles challenges and deadlines well.
• Willing to work long hours.
• Willing to work outside as well as an office setting.
• Must be able to manage multiple aggressive RFP and design construction schedules and responses.
• Must be able to understand and read construction documents.
