Operations Director - NIU– Fiber Project
Grandview, MO
Bear communications is currently seeking an Operations Director to lead and supervise Aerial Construction crew in the Kansas City area. Must have a minimum of 5 years in the telecommunications industry with all aspects of Aerial, Underground Fiber Construction, and NIU.
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for operational and coordination responsibilities for In-house and Subcontracted Aerial and Underground construction for Fiber Project.
Essential Job Functions:
Essential responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:
• Supervise the planning and construction of coaxial and fiber optic cable networks for new build, rebuild or repair.
• Obtain permits for construction, aerial and underground when required.
• Assign work to subcontractors.
• Project coordination between subcontractors and In-House Technicians
• Deliver materials to subcontractors.
• Prepare Bill of Materials. (BoM)
• Verify work-in-progress report.
• Work closely with Client personnel to achieve timely completion of assigned work.
• Field verification of all construction activities.
• Supervise Emergency repair and maintenance.
• Meet with developers, associations and home and business owners to discuss client’s plans.
• Assist Project Manager in budgeting process.
• Submit reports on all construction activity, daily, weekly and monthly as required.
• Hold weekly safety classes and perform safety checks for In-House personnel and monitor subcontractor safety performance
• Attend training classes for new technology and safety as required.
• Knowledge to read and understand network design maps
• Knowledge of local and state construction codes
• Proficiency using MS Word and Excel
Skills and Abilities:
• Management/Supervisory experience in construction management, telecommunications techniques and procedures.
• Identify, monitor and address problem areas and work to eliminate customer service/quality control issues and complaints.
• Resolve escalated customer issues quickly and in a manner that satisfies the customer.
• Perform Quality Control checks and Proof of Performance for all Construction activities as well as work-in-progress.
• Ensure accurate and timely completion of all company and customer required paperwork.
• Monitor completion percentage and verify all non-completed jobs
• Ensure technical services operate within approved operating and capital budgets
• Compile daily reports: job schedules and jobs completed for each project
• Monitor project results through standardized project and quality control reporting procedures
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelors Degree preferred.

• Strong computer skills: Familiar with Email, MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Google Earth
• Some familiarity with ERP systems, WMS systems, Access database related systems.

• Handles challenges and deadlines well.
• Willing to work long hours.
• Willing to work outside as well as an office setting.
• Must be able to manage multiple aggressive RFP and design construction schedules and responses.
• Must be able to understand and read construction documents.
• Familiar with all facets of OSP management, including quoting, construction and delivery.
• Proven negotiation skills.
• Business minded and able to maintain a commercial focus.
• Some travel required.
• Familiar with managing over 100 employees.
SOME TRAVEL WILL BE REQUIRED.
