Qualifications
Experience with Broadband (Cable TV, Phone) outside plant construction practices. Able to read outside plant design prints and determine most efficient routing for fiber optic and coax placements. Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check. Clean DMV record required. Must be legally permitted to work in the USA.
Other Requirements
Desirable candidates will have a cable TV construction background. Candidate must be competent in the preparation of plant field notes for aerial, buried, and underground construction. The ability to work with minimum supervision to complete work in a timely manner is also required. Must be able to read cable plant maps. Basic computer skills are a must. Must be able to walk for extended periods and able to lift up to 75 lbs to open vault and manholes.
Job Description
This position will require someone with a background in CATV outside plant construction. Technician will be issued design prints for new build coax and fiber construction routes. Technician will walk out the route and determine if there are existing pole lines and/or conduits that may be utilized for cable placement. Extensive field notes will be required, including documentation of existing conduit sizes and all existing cables and sizes already in place. Accurate and complete fielding the first trip to a location is required. There is no time for multiple return trips for missing information. Neat handwriting and the ability to legibly mark up a design print is required.
Technician will be required to open vaults and manholes as required as part of the survey process. If there are no existing conduits the technician should be able to determine the most efficient route for directional boring to complete the circuit. There will be areas where the existing OSP is aerial, and in many of those instances, an alternate route utilizing directional bore will need to be documented.
Candidate will need to utilize measuring wheel, pole measuring stick, e-mail, and occasional data entry on to company provided computer.
Company will provide vehicle, phone, and tools required.
