Qualifications
•Certification testing of fiber optic systems
•H.S. Diploma
•Able to work up to 50’ in a bucket truck/ladder/climb utility poles
•Understand construction prints & splice schematics
•Proficient with testing & splicing equipment & knowledge of computer & all software used by the company for the completion of fiber optic projects.
•Able & willing to work outdoors & in inclement weather.
•Able & willing to be on call 24 hours, travel, & work nights/weekends
•Willing to travel outside home state.
Job Description
Primary responsibilities for this position include:
•Splice fiber optic cables using single and mass fusion equipment
•Terminate fiber with pig tails or Unicam components
•Test fiber using Optical Time Domain (OTDR) or power meter and light source, field testing with a light identifier
•Install required capsules and hardware
•Maintain existing plant without causing signal failure interruptions
•Maintain test documentation
•Organizational and Communication skills are very important
•Highly responsible and attentive to detail
•Maintain project tracing information (production sheets, time sheets, and customer required paperwork)
•Keep a safe working environment
