Requisite Skills and Considerations:
• Highly motivated individual with proven record of high productivity
• Ability to handle multiple issues simultaneously
• Technical knowledge including computer skills is mandatory
• Position can involve up to 60% travel, depending on local work load
• Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule, and overtime as necessary
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Must be able to pass a background check per company policy
• Must be drug free

• Work outside in all types of weather

Job Description
Experienced Coax Technician,Cable TV, RF Low Voltage Technician
STS Cable Services, Inc. is looking to add an experienced technician to our team.
Candidate must have extensive experience in all aspects of HFC construction and maintenance. The successful candidate will have coax splicing and RF activation experience and be able to function well in a fast-paced environment. Experience with Wi-Fi, DAS, and fiber splicing and testing is a definite plus.
Summary:
Technician will perform construction maintenance duties including splicing of aerial and underground coaxial cable and equipment to cable plant system specifications. Successful candidate will splice and activate new coax plant as required, repair and or replace damaged aerial and underground cables and equipment, inspect and repair power supplies, document measurements of batteries, input and output of the power supply. Technician will be required to follow test procedures such as conductance testing, resistance, voltage and current draw. Candidate will troubleshoot the forward and return path of the OSP system and have a firm understanding of cable TV systems, will perform routine troubleshooting calls, troubleshoot the plant through the distribution cable to the node in order to restore service.
The successful candidate must have the ability to use basic cable installation tools, hand tools, power tools, ladders, signal level meters, volt meters, converters, test equipment, and company vehicles while complying with all safety procedures and requirements. Candidate must have the ability to climb poles and ladders and operate aerial lifts 18 to 20 feet above ground, as required by the system. Candidate will be expected to adhere to the manufacturer’s rated weight capacity for all equipment including, but not limited to, ladders and aerial lifts. This position will involve working in close proximity to power lines and electricity.
The technician will be expected to complete, in a timely manner, all required paperwork including installation checklists, timesheets, service orders, vehicle inspection reports, and various logs, noting problems requiring attention of other staff members, and performing all other duties as assigned. The candidate must possess the ability to prioritize and organize effectively.
Our technicians respond to and repair service interruptions during regular business hours, shift work or when "on-call" as required. Normal work shift may include evenings and/or weekends and may include long hours. The successful candidate must be willing and able to work overtime including weekends, evenings and holidays as needed.
The successful candidate will be expected to drive a company vehicle in a safe and responsible manner as well as maintaining a clean and organized company vehicle and other company equipment.
Applicants should have knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC,) the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC,) the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA,) Federal Communications Commission (FCC,) Environmental Protection Agency (EPA,) Department of Transportation (DOT,) American National Standards Institute (ANSI,) and various state and local codes including G.O. 95 and G.O. 128, (when applicable.)
