Job Description

Field Technician
Job Duties:
The job consists of working in the telecommunications industry. The field technician will be installing equipment such as multiplexors, rectifiers, switches, and various patch panels. Field technicians are also responsible for turning up and testing all of the various equipment involved with the job.
The majority of the work is performed at night in a maintenance window. There is a large amount of travel involved. The field technician must be able to follow verbal as well as written instructions as they pertain to the job that is being performed. Field technicians must be able to work a flexible schedule and be able to respond to emergency situations as they arise.
Field technicians need to have a working knowledge of Ethernet, Sonet, and CWDM, DWDM and basic fiber optic theory.
Fiber Splicer
Job Duties:
This job is much the same as the field technician as to the travel and the hours. The splicer must be able to use a fusion splicer and to work in various types of enclosures and FDP patch panels. The splicer must have the ability to pay attention to detail.
Fiber splicer’s need to understand how to read a splice plan and understand how to work with different types of couplers
