Qualifications
3-5 years field experience in Fiber splicing & restoration, switching, routing and networking. Fiber optic splicing experience is a must.
•Must understand the underlying theories and concepts of broadband communication and including fiber optics and Metro Ethernet networks.
•Strong PC skills are required.
•Ability to use advanced test equipment like OTDR’s, Ethernet testers, optical power meters and PRI testers as required.
•Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills are necessary

Job Description
Hotwire Communications, founded in 2000, specializes in providing advanced video solutions, high speed internet, digital phone service and other IP related products and services over its private Metro Ethernet Fiber Backbone. Hotwire’s operating divisions focus on delivering its suite of advanced communications products to unique market segments to meet the needs of a specific industry.
- Install and maintain transmission and reception equipment for FTTH network
- Install and maintain transmission and reception equipment for IP Phone network
- Install and maintain transmission and reception equipment for high-speed data networks.
-Proficient with fusion splice machine
-Proficient with fiber connector prep and installation
-Proficient with fiber test equipment.
- Initiates test and turn-up procedures with System Engineers in accordance with Hotwire compliance standards.
- Collects and interprets engineering documentation, to include schematics, fiber management systems and performance OTDR reports.
- Performs network tests of Ethernet and IP technologies.
- Supports Field Maintenance, IT, Regional Engineering and any other department as related to fiber network.
- Performs on-call rotation as required by standby coverage schedule.
- Provides demand and preventive maintenance for fiber network & FTTH
-Maintains proper network documentation on changes and upgrades.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
•High school diploma or recognized equivalent required.
•Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering/Science preferred or equivalent work experience.
•SCTE certification a plus.
EXPERIENCE:
