FirstLight is currently seeking to hire a Outside Plant Engineer to join our team.
Essential Job Functions
Designs and prepares detailed work plans for construction, removal or rearrangement of existing fiber optic cable, aerial, underground lines, and buried feeders.
Selects routing of lines and determines equipment requirements as appropriate.
Directs construction work activities to ensure conformance with engineering specifications and on-time delivery of customer service.
Ensures compliance with industry specifications including but not limited to gathering pole data and obtaining permitting and rights of way.
Serves as a liaison between the Company, contractors, public utility companies, and customers.
Actively seeks to resolve delays quickly and efficiently during the life-cycle of the project.
Makes job safety a primary objective in all duties and sets an example for other staff.
Frequent travel required to project areas and job sites.
Performs other duties as assigned by OSP Manager.
Desired Qualifications
Familiarity with NESC guidelines
Experience with right-of-way, DOT and local municipal permitting
Ability to read, interpret and follow complex maps, diagrams and schematics
Strong computer skills with experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, & Xmaps
Skill in making sound decisions based on information at hand
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments
Capable of working independently with minimal supervision or as part of a team
Ability to communicate with customers, employees, and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner
Education and Experience:
