Qualifications
Fiber Optic Splicing, OTDR Testing, and cable industry experience is required. A basic knowledge of fiber optic matrix' and build designs and all safety and traffic regulations is preferred.
Other Requirements
Must have a valid driver's license. Must be able to pass an MDOT physical. Ability to work independently or as part of a team, Ability to climb ladders, Ability to lift and pull 100lbs, Ability to work in various types of weather situations, and a Willingness to travel and do night work.
Job Description
Fiber Optic Splicing Technician
Duties to Include: Perform tasks associated with Fiber Optic Splicing Maintain proper inventory on a vehicle based on work assignment
Arrive at location and install equipment on pole or in pedestal using various hand tools
Operate tools and test equipment including Fusion Splicer, Cleaver
Fiber Prep Tools, OTDR
Test, activate, and troubleshoot fiber links
Operate vehicle and bucket lift safely while following all safety and traffic regulations
Read, interpret and understand fiber optic matrix and build design
Keep up to date on basic daily maintenance or work vehicles
Prepare paperwork to track daily production
Other responsibilities as directed by supervision
