Education
High School Diploma and technical/vocational training or equivalent work experience
Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (NCTI, SCTE)
Related Work Experience
2+ years of Technical work experience preferred
3+ years of Construction work experience preferred
Certifications and/or Licenses
Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record within Company required standards along with a complete background check in order to be hired.
Other Requirements
Must have working knowledge of the following computer skills: Word, Excel, Internet and Email. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Must BE ABLE to work in the following areas:
Exposure to dust, dirt, noise, insects, rodents, pets, and cleaning solutions
Work outdoors in all kinds of weather and at all times of the day or night
Work performed near power lines and electricity
Work and travel in inclement weather
Job Description
Broadband Locator/Operator
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION
Placement of underground communications cables and all requisite labor including, but not limited to small equipment operation, boring and locating equipment, hand digging, conduit placement, cable/fiber pulling, vaults, pedestals. Jobsites will be away from office/ headquarters located in Murray KY and will require travel and extended stays away from home.
• Adhere to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable
• Know, understand and follow company policy
• Perform other duties as requested by supervisor
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to read, write, and speak the English language to communicate with employees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straightforward, and professional manner
Ability to use computer and [word processing, spreadsheet, computer aided drafting software] accurately and efficiently
Ability to work independently
Ability to prioritize and organize effectively
Ability to read general system layouts from blueprints
Ability to adhere to Local, Federal regulations and Company policies
Ability to drive Company vehicle in a safe and responsible manner
Ability to use personal computer and software applications
Knowledge and ability to use the following office equipment: computer, telephone, copier, fax, calculator and stapler.
Knowledge of basic electrical theory, ohms law, series and parallel DC circuits, voltage drops and passive devices, National Electric Code and National Electrical Safety Code
Knowledge of Broadband RF design and theory
Knowledge of company products and services
Ability to accurately measure distances, using tapes or other measuring devices and use of the following hand tools: electric drills, hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.
Ability to walk over all types of terrain in all kinds of weather while carrying tools and equipment, ladders, and fully loaded tool belts
Ability to safely use weight-bearing equipment within the maximum weight limitations of that equipment
Ability to differentiate between different sizes and colors of wires
Ability to dig in all types of soil
Ability to make cable connections in tight spaces by bending, reaching, twisting
Ability to operate appropriate computer or test equipment associated with position (e.g. signal level meters, ohm meters, etc.)
Ability to manipulate connectors, fasteners, and wires.
Ability to work with small components and wires to make cable connections
Ability to reach with hands and arms, to bend, to talk and hear
Ability to work while seated for prolonged periods of time.
Ability to work while standing 50 - 70% of the time
Ability to use handheld communication devices and applications
Ability to perform labor duties to support the crew or as directed by the manager
