Job Description
We are experiencing phenomenal growth in 2014 and are adding to our staff to accommodate this. NX Utilities is a growth oriented telecommunications utility/construction company and is seeking a Field Supervisor.
The Field Supervisor is to oversee in-house/contract crews and ensure quality service is being performed. The Field Supervisor is responsible for coordination, delegation, supervision and quality control of onsite work including responsibility for performance and productivity of all crew members and accuracy of all related documentation
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
-Ability to plan, layout, and supervise the activities of a large working unit involving a large staff of subordinates and crews performing varied tasks
-Good knowledge of the hazards incidental to maintenance and construction involved and of the safety measures to be observed
-Understand, train and enforce proper documentation of pay activities (work orders, time-sheets, etc.)
-Show exemplary customer service to customers, corporate leadership, subordinate supervisors and in house/contract crews, and ability to instill in house/contract crews with professional, customer service driven attitude
-Coordinate with Field Manager on daily responsibilities including any VIP Projects
-Recruit, train, and motivate in house/contract crews
-Multi-task in fast paced environment. This includes goal setting, production, efficiently solving issues with customers, technician scheduling and morale, etc.
-Ensuring their techs have the proper tools, training on tools and safety gear to succeed at all times
-Adhere to safety policy
-Accurately document correspondence with customers
-Thorough knowledge of inventory control
-Responsible for safety and vehicle inspections
Supervisory Responsibilities
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Requirements

-5 years of telephone and CATV construction, buried, underground, and aerial industry experience
-Thorough knowledge of the use and operating characteristics of a variety of light and heavy equipment used in construction and maintenance
-CDL preferred, but not required
-Excellent reading/writing ability and math skills to understand job specifications and accurately complete paperwork
-Full comprehension of construction plans in order to supervise successful completion of operations
-Excellent logistics ability in order to identify and solve problems while supervising field activities
-High sense of urgency for customer needs
-Develop and maintain team-building through strong interpersonal and leadership skills
-Willingness to work when necessary in order to accomplish ever-changing workload with occasional overnight travel required
-Have an overall understanding of the work environment and process
-Efficient time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills
-Must be able to work under pressure
-Highly motivated individuals are desired
-Candidates must be able to pass pre-employment testing (MVR, drug and background)
Education and/or Experience:
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or five years of experience in the construction field, at least 2 of those years must have been in a supervisory role, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
