Job Description
We are an established (30 year) company that is a leading provider of Fiber Optic Technical Services throughout the country. We are currently hiring installers for our rapidly growing FTTx installation division. We are looking for quality minded technicians who have the ability to work safely and quickly to deliver our customers a high quality, world class product.
We are currently recruiting 5 new technicians to be phased into existing FTTx operations. We have several years of installation work under contract in New England and the Midwest with additional markets in the South & Southeast coming online next year. We promote to management positions from within our service department and have several supervisory positions open.
Technicians are required to work independently and with other personnel to complete installation orders inside and outside the customers premise. Work must be completed on time & tested to ensure 100% compliance with required specifications. Job paperwork must be completed at each assignment and submitted at the end of each shift.
Basic Job Duties:
Install network cabling on exterior and interior of customers home or business.
Convert existing copper based system to fiber optic equipment for FTTx.
Install and activate electronic equipment at customer premise.
Effectively & politely communicate with customers, supervisor & Telco Central Office.
Work with minimal supervision to complete all tasks given.
Work cleanly, safely & efficiently outside, inside and in attics or crawl spaces.
Document & process detailed installation reports in a timely manner. Ensure all tasks are performed under the guidelines, goals and objectives of each specific service provider.
Maintain supplies and inventory on a daily basis. Track shortages and request materials weekly.
Educate and train the customers in the proper use of equipment and services.
Requirements:
Must have a clean reliable vehicle
Must have laptop to complete paperwork
Pass a basic background check
Have a cell phone

Abilities that are not "Required" but would be considered an "Asset"
Experience splicing and testing fiber optic cable
Experience troubleshooting and repairing telephone & data circuits
In depth knowledge of various operating systems (MAC, Vista, XP, etc)
Knowledge of LAN, Switch, Router, Modem, and Wireless Networks
Knowledge of TCP/IP troubleshooting methods
Have at least 3 years’ experience with low voltage communication systems
Ability to read and interpret documents and drawings
Post-secondary education and/or a technical trade certificate is an asset.
