Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
? Perform underground installation of drop wire and main line cable with machine or by hand, mechanical repairs to equipment, splicing of active and passive equipment in main line, read CATV design maps, perform cable television installation as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
? Operate underground digging equipment.
? Bury service wire to home and activating new line.
? Install and splice main line equipment in CATV plant and retrofit.
? Clean, maintain and stock assigned vehicle and equipment.
? General building maintenance and up keep.
? Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
? Ability to operate heavy machinery
? Ability to use cable installation and hand tools.
? Ability to work from high places such as poles and roofs.
? Knowledge of cable television products and services.
? Ability to communicate with customers in a clear and professional manner.
? Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively.
? Ability to read CATV blueprints.
EDUCATION:
? High School diploma or equivalent
RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
? Underground Construction and Splicing
CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR LICENSES:
? Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record
? CDL preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS:
? Operate heavy machinery
? Climb poles with proper equipment and ability to use ladders or bucket trucks.
? Lift and carry up to 80 pounds.
? Work while standing 65-85% of the time.
? Work near power lines and electricity.
? Drive company vehicle in performance of duties in a safe manner.
? Work and travel in inclement weather.
? Vision ability: close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust to focus.
? Manipulate connectors, fasteners, wire and use hand tools.
? Overnight travel a must
