Pay
Field Tech: starting at $15.00/hour and based on knowledge, skill and experience. Maintenance Tech: starting at $17:00/hour and based on knowledge, skill and experience.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or GED. Ability to work in a team environment, problem-solve and multi-task, basic computer skills (MS Office suite), read as build prints, Knowledge of analog cable systems, analog distribution, satellite distribution, HFC distribution, multiple satellite systems, analog and digital test equipment to include older and new technology, DATA systems and cable modems, how to operate and maintain, extensive knowledge of off-air and HDTV modulation.
Other Requirements
Pass all drug testing. Clean driving record. 3-4 years experience in the satellite/cable TV industry preferred.
Job Description
Service Tech:
• Coordinate daily jobs to ensure most efficient ways of completion
• Communicate with Supervisor on any and all issues within the company
• Communicate with Maintenance Technician on all technical issues
• Ensure company vehicle is stocked and ready for any kind of service call and or outage
• Service any and all jobs that have been sent to the field for repair
• Close out all jobs real time with zero (0) past opens
• Have all forms such as but not limited to, Daily close out reports, Weekly maintenance log’s and time sheets completed correctly and turned in on time to Supervisor
• Report any illegal activities with the network
• Perform a 24 hour call on a 7 day rotation
• Take system levels and report findings
• Repair lockbox’s and cabling within lockbox
• Safeguard equipment and property at all times
• Maintain oil and repair service on company vehicle’s
• Report all vehicle accidents to your supervisor
• Perform repairs on 40ft’ ladders
• Communicate with property managers for any issues that may have not been reported yet
• Maintain all data from service job and system upkeep
• Report all system issues to team Maintenance Technician and Supervisor for prompt resolution
• Submit all reports and time card in a timely manner
Maintenance Tech:
: Maintenance technicians are responsible for the overall uptime, performance to standards, deployment to standards, documentation, cleanliness, and safety of the MDU networks for which they have been assigned. Maintenance technicians will work independently and with other personnel to perform preventative, predictive and routine maintenance tasks. They will troubleshoot issues, repair failures of production network equipment, and ensure maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness. All tasks will be performed while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of the company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Oversee the repair and maintain network plant such as IDF Lock Boxes, MFH2 Electronics, Dish Installations, Hardline Plant & Cabling, Fiber Plant & Cabling, Twisted Pair Plant & Cabling, CATV Headend & Distribution systems, Data systems including CMTS, Routers, Switches, and Wireless bridges/access points.
• Perform reactive Work order repairs, and outage restorations in a timely basis in accordance with mandated SLA’s.
• Identify and document proactive maintenance projects and scopes which will be required to sustain the optimal operation of your assigned MDU network systems and plants.
• Perform and routine inspections and take measurements of plant performance using electronic reporting systems, performance dashboards, and on site handheld test sets.
• Able to set up and effectively operate all required hand tools and test equipment including Satellite Meter, CATV Meters, Fiber Meters, and PC based test platforms.
• Able to monitor and maintain all aspects of Coaxial, Fiber, and Twisted pair distribution networks.
• Able to prioritize, manage, and report on the various job requirements and duties on a day to day basis.
• Accept new MDU site networks from Construction project management teams into your maintenance management area / route.
• Manage the end user service level experience and satisfaction as it relates to the performance, and reliability of the DirecPath services for which they have subscribed at the MDU sites for which you have been assigned.
• Participate in plant safety, health and environmental programs.
• Other.
Education and Pertinent/Proven Experience. The minimum requirements for education and experience are listed below. Consideration will be given to individuals with an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Have at least 3 years experience with low voltage communications systems and maintenance.
• Ability to read and interpret documents and drawings.
• Ability to write detailed reports as well as good verbal communication.
• Post-secondary education and/or a technical trade certificate is an asset.
• Successfully pass and maintain DirecTV SBCA Certification and other network certification and testing programs as deemed mandatory by DirecPath maintenance.
• Must have a valid state driver’s license and maintained a good driving record.
Compensation:
• Salary, based on experience, and level of expertise.
Schedule:
• Must be willing to work a changing shift schedule and on a rotating on call list.
Computer Skills:
• Expertise and proficiency with basic office computer software, and the ability to learn how to effectively use maintenance software to input data and research parts.
• Proficiency with PC’s and Telnet/SSH basic commands in order to manage Data network components.
Physical Requirements:
• The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
• Must be able to climb ladders and work at elevations 60 feet, or on high rise rooftop locations.
