Education and/or Experience: Minimum of two (2) years in cable construction and/or engineering experience with a thorough understanding of all aspects relative to HFC architectures.
Job Description
The Construction Tech III is a mid level to senior level construction worker that can perform both aerial and underground construction work, splice cable, and has a good working knowledge of GO95 and GO128 rules and regulations. In addition, the Construction Tech III will be expected to undertake a lead and/or a foreman role in the field for both aerial and underground construction work.
• Dig trenches that are between 6” and 36” deep
• Install 2” and 4” conduit or poly in trenches
• Pull new cable through conduits and poly safely with no kinks in the cable
• Pull a lasher and work with the aerial construction team to perform aerial construction
• Climb ladders at MDU projects, or use ladder on poles for construction projects
• Use layup sticks to pull rope and cable through trees
• Splice aerial and underground trunk and properly distribute cable
• Use and read meters for rough balancing and troubleshooting cable problems related to work performed in the field
• Perform all aerial construction activities, including but not limited to, installing aerial coax, aerial fiber, completing pole transfers, and performing GO95 cleanup work
• Work with fiber construction and splice fiber
• Operate a boring machine and Trenchers
• Supervise and lead aerial or underground construction crews in the absence of a Supervisor
• Perform other related duties as required
