We are looking for a combo copper and fiber splicer. We need someone with verifiable experience in both disciplines in an outside plant capacity. The position includes physical requirements and ability to distinguish all colors used in telephone cable; ability to work aloft from ladders, platforms, poles (with climbers); and bucket trucks.

Possess the ability to lift, carry, set up and secure 28 foot ladder. Requires lifting, pulling, placing, and digging, as required by Light Source 1 Inc. Work schedules are typically 5 days per week, 8 hours per day. Short-term travel may be required throughout California, and Nevada

Combination of education and relevant work experience totaling two years post-high school or equivalent or two years work related experience, or completion of a minimum of 12 college credit hours or job-related courses in fiber splicing technical requirements.

Strive for satisfactory customer service by performing such duties as: cable maintenance, installation, removal, rearrangement and maintenance of single line and associated telecom/apparatus equipment, including cross connections to switching equipment and single-line and multichannel subscriber carrier.

This individual must have a valid driver’s license, pass all company drug testing, adhere to all OSHA, state, city/municipality safety requirements and training provided by company. This position must have and provide adequate means of transportation to and from Light Source 1, job site locations or yards. E Applicant must be able and willing to travel as needed.

Light Source 1 specializes in underground utility work, telecommunication and power infrastructure, as well as aerial and long haul, in both city and rural environments.

Requirements:

• Must be 21 years old or older
• Valid driver license and reliable transportation
• Must pass company drug testing
• Knowledge of local cable copper facilities and fiber networks
• Experience in Outside Plant telecom functions
• Experience in how to read and interpret outside and subscriber plant facility records and engineering schematic work prints
• Electronics training or experience that demonstrates knowledge of AC/DC theory
• Working knowledge of analog and digital transmission
• Knowledgeable on all test equipment used to identify and locate optical and copper faults ( OTDR/VFL and Power meter operation)
• Working knowledge of direct termination of fiber-optic connectors including mechanical, anaerobic, epoxy polish, heat cured as well as pigtail splicing methods
• Knowledge of and connect bulkheads, splice trays, organizers, furcation kits and storage units
• Must know the color code system for cable pairs
• Ability to maintain and repair entire telephone loop/facilities
• Knowledge of bonding and grounding requirements of telecommunications plant
• Ability to build span lines, install repeaters and perform tagging and testing functions on cable pairs to meet HDSL requirements
• Working knowledge ISP/OSP fiber optics terminations in splicing products in regards to appropriate application
• Ability to work in confined spaces such as utility vaults
• Possesses strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to work with internal and external customers
• Must have strong interpersonal communication skills to effectively communicate with product vendors and customers
• Ability to work from oral or written instructions and plan work without direct supervision
• Possesses proficient personal computer operations skills
• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and in various hours of the day or night and holidays as required
• Must be able to respond to after-hours callouts, work overtime, shifts and weekends
• Must be able to travel overnight as necessary to meet business and job requirements
• Assist other technical personnel in the performance of their duties when requested
• Comply with all safety regulations and meet safety requirements to maintain a successful safety record
• Assume all duties as assigned
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
