Qualifications
Experience required: fiber splicing, building, repairing, expanding and maintaining hermetically sealed enclosures (Tyco/Raychem, 3M, PLP, etc.), working with aerial lifts (bucket trucks), entering confined work spaces, testing (OTDR), working knowledge of utilities work prints, conducting system audits and updating facilities records.
Other Requirements
Safe driving history is required and must possess a valid drivers license, as a company vehicle is provided. Must be willing to work a VERY flexible schedule within late night/early morning maintenance window.
Job Description
Fiber splicing and testing using Fujikura 50s and 60s, EXFO FTB200 OTDR. Installing MUX's for high-speed internet circuits. High-count splicing for backbone fiber builds. Aerial work including placement of snowshoes and hanging cases. Mostly night work on active plant. Position may also include other types of construction including: pulling/pushing cable, placement of EMT within buildings, digging short span trenches and installing cable pedestals.
