Qualifications
Must have 5+ years cable maintenance splicing and repair experience. High technical experience using test equipment (Sidekick,965DSP,JDSU HST-3000,3M 2273) for fault identification and isolation. Be able to coach and instruct in a field environment.
Other Requirements
Must have valid California Driver's License and own vehicle with insurance.
Job Description
Job Summary
• Provide various forms of high level training to telecommunications technicians working in the field within the Feeder and Distribution sections of the Outside Plant. Provide subject matter expert levels of coaching and training in all maintenance processes for Fault Identification and Service Restoral.
Job Accountabilities
• Mentor students in proper methods of testing components of malfunctioning telecommunications services /cables to isolate the source of malfunctions, using various tools.
• Analyze test readings, computer printouts, and trouble reports to determine equipment/cables repair needs and required repair methods.
• Assess the technician’s use of tools and materials required to perform splicing functions necessary repair faults in the outside plant facilities.
• Complete daily tracking of the technician’s performance and work with the DenC Manager to provide recommendations relative to the technician’s skill level.
Job Qualifications
• Minimum Education: High School Diploma.
• Minimum Experience: Five years of field experience as a Maintenance Splicing telecommunications technician.
Skills
• Troubleshooting, Using Sidekick, JDSU HST-3000, 965 DSP, 3M 2273, NERV maps.
• Underground, aerial and buried cable Splicing.
• Critical thinking.
• Clear, concise communication both verbal and written.
• PC literate, use of Word, Excel….
