Qualifications

Crews must hold all required industry and safety certifications.

Other Requirements

All technicians/subcontractor crews must be fully self-sufficient and provide all required vehicles/trucks, fusion splicers, fiber tools, OTDR/iOLM equipment, power meters, VFLs, ladders, PPE, and laptops/tablets. Mandatory: EXFO MAX-730D with iOLM/OTDR software. All equipment must be operational/calibrated. Crews must hold all required industry and safety certifications. No vehicles, tools, testing equipment, or PPE will be provided.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Fiber Splicing
Prepare, strip, clean, cleave, and fusion splice single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables in accordance with engineering specifications and industry standards.

Splice Enclosures & Fiber Management
Build, install, mount, organize, and maintain aerial and underground splice closures, pedestals, handholes, cabinets, and rack-mounted fiber panels. Ensure proper fiber routing, labeling, slack management, and protection.

Fiber Testing & Verification
Perform comprehensive fiber testing to validate optical performance, attenuation, continuity, and overall network integrity. Testing responsibilities include OTDR, iOLM, optical power meter, and Visual Fault Locator (VFL) testing as required.

Troubleshooting & Restoration
Identify and isolate fiber faults, excessive loss, breaks, damaged fibers, and network outages. Perform emergency repairs, resplicing, and restoration activities while meeting required customer timelines.

Documentation & Closeout
Read and interpret construction drawings, engineering designs, fiber assignments, splice diagrams, and network documentation. Accurately document splice records, fiber assignments, OTDR/iOLM test results, and required closeout documentation.

Safety & Compliance
Perform all work in accordance with applicable OSHA requirements, customer safety standards, and industry best practices. Properly handle and dispose of fiber shards and maintain a safe and organized work environment.

Required Testing Equipment

Technicians/crews must have access to the following equipment:

All testing equipment must be fully operational and properly calibrated, with the ability to generate and provide customer-required test results and closeout documentation.
