OSP Field Technician | Fiber Infrastructure
Lightworx is seeking a reliable, detail oriented OSP Field Technician to support fiber optic infrastructure projects through field verification, site investigations, and utility documentation.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently in the field, understands how to document physical infrastructure accurately, and wants exposure to telecommunications engineering, utility coordination, and fiber network deployment.

Lightworx provides turnkey deployment solutions for fiber optic infrastructure projects through our integrated deployment model (IDM).
Our team works with telecommunications operators and infrastructure partners to identify potential conflicts, validate existing conditions, and help move projects from design and engineering through construction to completion. Owning the project from beginning to end.
~What You’ll Do~
The Field Technician will perform site visits based on assignments provided by the Lightworx engineering team.
Typical responsibilities include:
• Travel to assigned project locations and perform field investigations
• Locate and visually verify existing telecommunications infrastructure
• Identify utility poles, handholes, vaults, pedestals, cabinets, conduit routes, aerial attachments, and other relevant infrastructure
• Compare existing field conditions against project plans, maps, KMZ files, and engineering information provided by Lightworx
• Photograph existing utilities and project conditions
• Capture GPS locations of relevant infrastructure when required
• Document pole numbers, utility ownership information, attachment conditions, roadway features, and other identifiable field information
• Identify visible discrepancies between engineering records and actual field conditions
• Provide organized field notes, photographs, measurements, and supporting documentation to the Lightworx engineering team
• Communicate immediately when unexpected site conditions or significant conflicts are identified
This role is primarily focused on observation, documentation, and verification. The technician will not be responsible for making final engineering determinations in the field.
~What We’re Looking For~
Ideal candidates will have experience in one or more of the following areas:
• Telecommunications or fiber optic construction
• OSP fielding or engineering
• Utility locating
• Broadband infrastructure
• Aerial or underground utility construction
• Surveying or construction layout
• Civil construction
• Utility coordination
• GIS or GPS based field data collection
Previous telecommunications experience is strongly preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates strong field awareness, attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to follow a defined process.
~Required Qualifications~
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Ability to travel independently to project sites
• Comfortable working outdoors and alongside roadways
• Ability to safely walk construction sites and uneven terrain
• Ability to use a smartphone or tablet for photographs, maps, GPS, email, and field documentation
• Strong attention to detail
• Clear written and verbal communication
• Ability to follow project specific instructions and documentation standards
• Dependable and capable of completing assignments with limited supervision
~Preferred Qualifications~
• Previous OSP fiber experience
• Familiarity with aerial and underground telecommunications infrastructure
• Experience reading construction plans or utility drawings
• Familiarity with Google Earth, KMZ/KML files, GIS applications, or similar mapping tools
• Experience identifying utility poles and telecommunications attachments
• Familiarity with right of way environments and utility corridors
• Experience performing site walks, field surveys, or utility investigations
~Schedule~
This is a project based position with growth opportunity as we expand.
Hours will vary based on project volume and site visit requirements. The position offers flexibility, but technicians must be responsive when field assignments are issued and capable of completing work within established project timelines.
Some travel may be required depending on project location.
~Compensation~
