Job Description
SkyRock Communications is seeking experienced FTTH Fiber Splicers for a production-based contract opportunity in Memphis, TN.
We are looking for skilled, self-motivated fiber technicians who can work independently, troubleshoot efficiently, maintain high-quality workmanship, and consistently meet production requirements.
This position is best suited for experienced splicers who are comfortable working in active FTTH construction environments and handling fiber from the distribution network through customer access points.
(Responsibilities)
* Perform fusion splicing on FTTH fiber optic networks.
* Perform splicing in fiber optic closures, terminals, handholes, vaults, pedestals, cabinets, and other network enclosures.
* Work with distribution and drop fiber as required by the project.
* Build and splice fiber according to approved splice matrices, schematics, construction prints, and customer standards.
* Perform fiber preparation, routing, dressing, labeling, and organization within closures and terminals.
* Perform splicing for MSTs, FATs, FDTs, NIDs, terminals, splitters, and other FTTH network components, as applicable to the project.
* Read and accurately interpret fiber counts, cable assignments, splice diagrams, splice matrices, construction drawings, and engineering prints.
* Perform OTDR testing, power meter testing, and other required fiber testing.
* Analyze OTDR traces and test results to identify high loss, events, reflections, bad splices, damaged fiber, excessive bends, and other network issues.
* Troubleshoot, repair, and re-splice fiber when test results do not meet project specifications.
* Verify completed splices and network segments meet required loss budgets and customer specifications.
* Maintain accurate records of splice locations, fiber assignments, test results, photos, and completed production.
* Upload required documentation and test results to the designated customer/project platform.
* Identify discrepancies between field conditions and engineering documentation and communicate issues appropriately.
* Maintain clean, organized, and professional work areas.
* Protect existing fiber and network infrastructure while performing construction and repair work.
* Work around aerial and underground fiber facilities, including handholes, pedestals, cabinets, poles, and other outside-plant infrastructure as required.
* Follow all applicable OSHA, customer, company, and project-specific safety requirements.
* Meet or exceed established daily/weekly production goals while maintaining quality standards.
* Be available to work extended hours, weekends, or varying schedules when project demands require it.
(Required Qualifications)
**EXFO OTDR REQUIRED**
**MUST HAVE an EXFO OTDR capable of testing live fiber and connecting to EXFO Exchange.**
Applicants without the required EXFO testing equipment may not qualify for this project.
Additional qualifications:
* Proven experience as an FTTH Fiber Splicer.
* Strong experience with fusion splicing and fiber optic testing.
* Experience working with FTTH distribution networks and outside-plant fiber.
* Ability to read and understand splice matrices, fiber schematics, construction prints, and engineering drawings.
* Experience with OTDR testing and trace analysis.
* Ability to troubleshoot fiber faults and perform corrective splicing.
* Strong understanding of fiber counts, tube/fiber identification, splice assignments, and fiber routing.
* Ability to properly prepare, splice, route, secure, and document fiber within closures and terminals.
* Experience with MSTs, terminals, splitters, closures, handholes, pedestals, and other FTTH infrastructure is strongly preferred.
* Ability to maintain accurate test results and production documentation.
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
* Reliable transportation and ability to work throughout the Memphis, TN area.
* Must have the tools and equipment necessary to perform FTTH splicing and testing.
* Must be dependable, responsive, and capable of consistently meeting production expectations.

Contractors/companies should be prepared to provide, as applicable:
* Fully equipped fiber splicing vehicle/trailer.
* Fusion splicer and required fiber preparation tools.
* EXFO OTDR with live-fiber testing capability and EXFO Exchange connectivity.
* Fiber inspection and cleaning equipment.
* Power meter/light source testing equipment.
* Appropriate PPE and safety equipment.
* Reliable transportation.
* Valid business/company information.
* Proof of insurance as required by the project.
* Ability to provide required project documentation and testing records.
(Production Expectations)
This is a production-based contract opportunity.
Successful contractors must be able to balance production, quality, testing, and documentation. We are looking for experienced splicers who can efficiently complete assigned work without sacrificing workmanship or network integrity.
Production requirements may vary depending on the project, scope of work, splice quantities, construction conditions, and customer requirements.
