Qualifications
Must be able to pass MVR, background, and drug screen. Ability to read locate markings and follow utility locate requirements. Lift up to 75 pounds. Safely operate locating equipment, GPS devices, hand tools, and power tools. Stand, walk, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday in varying weather conditions without aid.
Other Requirements
Work with 811 to locate and mark underground telecommunications facilities including fiber optic, coaxial, conduit, and network infrastructure, experience preferred. Ability to safely tow and back a trailer. Have a working mobile phone with an active phone number and email address.
Job Description
The Telecommunications Construction Locator Technician is responsible for calling in/setting up locating, marking, and verifying underground telecom infrastructure to support construction activities involving fiber optic, coaxial, conduit, and network infrastructure installation. This role works with utility locating, facility verification, damage prevention, potholing support, documentation, and safety compliance to ensure construction projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to company, MSO, OSHA, and regulatory standards.
The Locator Technician works closely with construction crews, drill operators, foremen, subcontractors, utility owners, and utility locating partners to support successful underground telecom deployments and construction operations. Experience with reading HFC design maps preferred.
Document completed work, field modifications, and conduit conditions. Submit completed daily work report emails. Work independently and as a team. Maintain company equipment. Work may occasionally require evenings, weekends, overtime, overnights, or on-call support depending on project demands.
Ability to splice Coax or Fiber preferred but not required. Local crews are preferred.
