Job Description
Summary
We are seeking an experienced Combo Installation & Repair (I&R) Technician with strong PON and IPTV experience to join our team. In this role, you will handle both fiber-to-the-home (FTTH/PON) and legacy copper network environments. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on expertise in installing, troubleshooting, and repairing fiber, copper, and IPTV deployment systems, delivering top-notch technical and customer service to residential subscribers.
Responsibilities
- Installation: Perform residential installations for PON/FTTH architecture and copper-based services (DSL, POTS), ensuring proper setup, provisioning, and verification of voice, data, and IPTV services.
- IPTV Setup & Troubleshooting: Configure, provision, and troubleshoot IPTV set-top boxes, residential gateways, home networks, and wireless video bridges to ensure optimal video quality and service delivery.
- Network Repair: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair faults on both optical splitters/PON infrastructure and copper loops to eliminate RF interference, packet loss, or pixelation issues.
- Splicing & Termination: Handle fiber splicing (mechanical/fusion) and terminations, as well as copper cross-connects, punching down blocks, and modular jacks.
- Testing: Utilize industry-standard test equipment (e.g., OTDR, light meters, HPNA/MoCA testers, copper pair analyzers, TDRs, and multimeters) to isolate faults and verify signal quality.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed and accurate service records, installation notes, and test results via company ticketing systems.
- Customer Service: Educate customers on remote control operations, IPTV menu navigation, and basic home network troubleshooting.
Requirements
- Proven Experience: Demonstrated experience in both Fiber and Copper Installation & Repair (I&R), specifically within PON (GPON/EPON) environments.
- Video/IPTV Knowledge: Solid understanding of IPTV deployment, home networking (Wi-Fi, Ethernet, MoCA/HPNA), and multi-play service configurations.
- Technical Skill Set: Comprehensive knowledge of FTTH architecture as well as traditional copper infrastructure (outside plant/inside wiring, DSL, and POTS).
- Tools: Experience operating fiber testing tools (OTDR/Optical Power Meters) and IP/video testing equipment.
- Aptitude: Strong mechanical aptitude, color vision (for wire identification), and advanced problem-solving skills.
- Driver's License: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
