Job Description

Qualified fiber splicer with experience in cable telecommunications, broadband, fiber, HFC, EPON, or similar field work. Skilled in troubleshooting analog and digital optical signals, identifying and resolving fiber impairments, and supporting connectivity to nodes, OLT/vBNG, OLT, and optical transport systems. Hands-on experience with fiber equipment, including connectors, patch panels, splitters, attenuators, splice trays, and closures. Proficient in fusion splicing, fiber preparation, closure work, restoration testing, and use of OTDR, optical power meters, light sources, VFLs, and basic cable test equipment. Able to read work orders, prints, splice diagrams, plant records, and network documentation, while accurately completing closeouts, test results, and required paperwork. Comfortable working outdoors, in inclement weather, near power lines, and around aerial or underground plant. Able to climb ladders, work from aerial lifts, lift/carry materials, and support nights, weekends, overtime, on-call work, emergency restoration, and storm response.

About Us

CollabFirst is seeking qualified Fiber Splicers to support Comcast-related broadband and fiber network work. Candidates should have experience in cable telecommunications, broadband, fiber, HFC, EPON, or similar field operations. The ideal candidate will be able to troubleshoot analog and digital optical signals, identify and resolve fiber optic impairments, and support connectivity to nodes, OLT/vBNG, OLT, and optical transport systems.

Applicants should have hands-on experience with fiber optic equipment, including connectors, patch panels, optical splitters, attenuators, splice trays, and closures. Candidates must be comfortable performing fusion splicing, fiber preparation, splice closure work, restoration testing, and using test equipment such as OTDRs, optical power meters, light sources, VFLs, and basic cable testing tools.

This role requires the ability to read and follow work orders, prints, splice diagrams, plant records, and network documentation. Candidates must also be able to complete closeouts, test results, and required job documentation accurately and on time.

Fiber Splicers should be prepared to work outdoors, in changing weather conditions, near power lines, and around aerial or underground plant. The role may require climbing ladders, working from aerial lifts, lifting and carrying equipment or materials, and supporting nights, weekends, overtime, on-call work, emergency restoration, and storm response as needed.
